Not a release but an Archive of a body of works by composer Émilie Payeur in relation to her participation to Manual for a New Neighborhood, a project by curator Eric Mattson

: "Dans le cadre du projet Manuel pour un nouveau voisinage, j'offre des consultations dont le but est de déterminer les besoins d'une personne afin de créer pour elle une Formule Sonore thérapeutique sur mesure en plus de tisser des liens avec les gens habitants mon quartier.

Suivant l'idée d'une formule en herboristerie qui consiste en un mélange de différentes plantes choisies spécifiquement pour supporter de manière thérapeutique une personne, les Formules Sonores sont des fragments sonores dont les sons utilisés pour les composer ont été choisis spécifiquement afin de cibler les besoins d'une personne. Le but principal est de promouvoir un moment de pleine conscience en écoutant la Formule Sonore en boucle sur un petite dispositif que je leur prête pendant une semaine. Dans certains cas, des indications spécifiques d'utilisation ou bien d'autres éléments peuvent accompagner le dispositif. À la fin de leur période thérapeutique d'une semaine, je leur remet leur Formule Sonore sous forme d'un fichier numérique afin de pouvoir continuer à l'utiliser.

Je demande aux participants.es, la majorité habitant dans mon quartier, à Verdun, de prendre une photo du dispositif à l'endroit où ils le placent lors de son utilisation ainsi que d'écrire quelques phrases au sujet de leur expérience à des fins de documentation.

Le projet s'est déroulé d'octobre 2021 à février 2022.


TRAD : "As part of Manual for a New Neighborhood project, I offer consultations whose goal is to determine a person's needs in order to create a tailor-made therapeutic Sound Formula for them in addition to forging ties with people living in my neighborhood.

Following the idea of ​​a formula in herbalism which consists of a mixture of different plants chosen specifically to therapeutically support a person, the Sound Formulas are sound fragments whose sounds used to compose them have been chosen specifically in order to target the a person's needs. The main goal is to promote a moment of mindfulness by listening to the Sound Formula on a loop on a small device that I lend them for a week. In some cases, specific instructions for use or other elements may accompany the device. At the end of their week-long therapy period, I give them their Sound Formula as a digital file so they can continue to use it.

I ask the participants, the majority living in my neighborhood, in Verdun, to take a picture of the device where they place it when using it and to write a few sentences about their experience for documentation.

The project ran from October 2021 to February 2022.
